Homemade Wedding Invitation Ideas

You may not be familiar, but many stores carry "do it yourself wedding invitation kits," and they are actually quite attractive. These wedding invitation kits look very clean and professional. It might be a great option for you to use for your wedding invitations. You can finds these kits at places like Target, Walmart, Office Max, Michaels, and Amazon. I have found that Walmart and Amazon have both the best price and selection.
The kits can be as simple as a decorative piece of card-stock with a decorative envelope. This will give you the freedom to decorate and design the invitation how you like, and still have your invitation look clean and professional. If you don't want to bother with sprucing up the invitation yourself, you can find upgraded kits that come with all the extras. However these kits are more expensive. Most these kits will also come with an rsvp. If your not doing an rsvp, it is not a waste. You can use it for your Thank You notes, or to write directions, or to say where you are registered.
A few ideas to jazz up your invitation:

-Incorporate vellum paper
-Add embellishment like jewels, buttons, bows, silk or paper flowers
-Attach your picture in a creative way; sew it on with a button, tie it all together with a ribbon or a strip of card-stock, or attach it with a decorative wire clip.
-Keep it tasteful and don't get too carried away.
Something very important to consider before buying your invitations is the cost of postage. Think about the size, the weight, and if the invitation is flat. One little bump or hard item on your invitations is and extra 16 cent. If the invitation cannot go through the feeder, it will have to be done by hand. That just one little bow, or knot and it adds up very quickly. So you might want to use embellishment that are flat. Think of doing something with lace, or using paper and making a flat pocket rather than adding a rhinestone or a button. I would suggest you go into the post office with your invitation and have it checked before you send it out. You don't want to chance it, aside from the invitations not all getting out, they can get beaten up pretty badly.
It is also really easy to print them yourself. A little tip... do not separate the smaller card-stock before printing. If you are not good with computers, and need a little help you can take your invitations into a place like Office Max to get it printed and formatted for you. It is quite inexpensive and if it doesn't turn out, it's not on you. They will pay to replace them, if they don't turn out. Be careful with a laser printer and card-stock. If the paper feels slick, chances are you will need to use an inkjet printer. The laser printer will smear right off.
Another option when choosing your invitations is to use a photo center. At a photo center you can make a customized greeting card. This can be a very simple and inexpensive option. You have probably seen or even used the photo center at Walmart, Costco, Target, or Walgreens. They have computers for you to use to customize your prints. All you have to do is upload your picture, pick a design, and create a greeting card with your picture and information. Don't be intimidated if you have never done it before. It is very simple and you can get help along the way. The Cost at Walmart of a 5 by 7 greeting card is 75 cents, but remember you still would have to get pictures printed if you went another route.
If you are creative and good with scrap-booking you may want to design your own invitation. If you decide to go this route. It is likely it will get quite expensive and be very time-consuming but they can look fabulous. I strongly advise anyone who isn't familiar with scrap-booking or that isn't artistic to stay away from this option.

Cheap Wedding Invitations

Every couple that is about to get married and has set the date is looking for wedding invitations. Although it's not possible to have a wedding without these, it is possible to save on wedding invites. Wedding cards in the 'budget category' can range from very cheap to moderate.
Create a Wedding Invitation Website (Very Cheap)
This is a very cheap method for sending out wedding cards, but it's equally effective and it's good for the environment because it does not waste any paper. Some options for creating a wedding invites website include:
Buy a domain name and design the website or have a relative or friend that has a good IT-knowledge do this. Make sure people need to log in before they can actually see the webpage because otherwise the whole World Wide Web knows the wedding date and venue.
Couples can also start a closed group on Facebook and invite people they want to come to the wedding to join. Only members of this group can view their pages. Nice about a Facebook page is that it allows people to post comments, photographs and videos.
If the couple doesn't mind strangers knowing about their wedding, they can also opt for creating a free wedding page via sites like Blogger.
Print Cheap Wedding Invitations That Still Look Fancy (Cheap)
Those who are looking for beautiful and affordable wedding invites, can print them themselves instead of having a company do this for them. This will save couples a lot of money. Buy nice cheap paper for the invitations and then design the invitation using beautiful fonts and images. Couples can also choose to include a black and white picture of themselves. No one will know that these invites were inexpensive wedding invitations!
Print the invitations at home and put them in blank envelopes. Want to save on ink or address labels? Write the addresses instead of printing them! Just make sure that the handwriting is readable and visually attractive.
Drop Some Of the Wedding card Extras (Rather Cheap)
Whether couples make and print their own wedding cards or they have a company print them, they can still save money. Below are some tips for affordable wedding card invitations.
Don't include an RSVP card with an envelope, but include a telephone number and/or email address instead. In this day and age, where almost everyone has access to the internet and mobile phones, it's perfectly acceptable to drop this card.
Another money saver is: keep it simple. Wedding cards that are multi-layered, contain colour pictures or are printed on very thick paper can cost a lot of money. Not only is it more expensive to print these, but they will need more stamps than standardized versions. After all, the more the wedding invites weigh, the more they will cost.
There is really no need for a save-the-date card. Consider skipping the card, especially when a lot of your invitees live in your hometown and when the wedding does not take place during a peak holiday time like Christmas or Thanksgiving.
Save Money To Spend Elsewhere
Cheap wedding invitations don't have to look cheap. Personalize them and no one will know that they weren't that expensive! Saving money on wedding card invitations means more money to spend on other parts of the wedding or the honeymoon. Or put the extra money on a bank account and do something with it later on.

Your wedding invitation is one of the most important elements in your wedding. The wedding invitation also sets the tone of your wedding to your entire prospective guest. Step1:
Make sure that your black and color ink cartridge is at least 50% full before you start your printing. You may want to purchase an extra set of ink cartridges to ensure you will not run out in the middle of printing your invitations.
Step2:
The basic parts to any wedding invitation include: mailing envelope, invitation, RSVP, return stamped envelope and directions to your wedding reception.
Step3:
The design of your wedding invitation is the key element that sets the tone for your wedding. The paper texture, overlays and ribbons all contribute to the final appearance of your invitation and should be chosen to your specifications.
Step4:
You can also add a photo to your invitation that may include a picture of the Bride and Groom or a picture of the location where your reception is going to be held. You can always browse the internet to get ideas if you can’t get creative. Just remember the design possibilities are unlimited.
Step5:
The RSVP is usually kept simple but you can jazz it up anyway you like. Just remember the RSVP will be a lot smaller than your wedding invitation so you will be limited to the amount of space on it.
Step6:
You can usually obtain directions to your wedding reception from your Catering Hall or wherever you decide to have your reception.
Step7:
Visit the resources I have supplied and start exploring. You can also visit a Wedding Center in your area if you would like to shop locally for your invitation material. It may be more appealing to you if you can actually see and feel the texture of the paper before purchasing it.

Magical Winter Vintage Wedding Ideas

The majority of weddings at this time of year are held indoors because of the cold; however, you can bring the winter indoors with these easy winter vintage wedding ideas.
Vintage Wedding Gown
Vintage weddings are very romantic and the perfect opportunity to wear your grandmother's wedding gown in an event similar in style to the first time it was worn. If you are purchasing a gown, save money on a classic wedding dress by searching in consignment shops or online for a dress that is vintage in design. If you find a pre-owned dress that suits you, keep in mind that it may need to be cleaned or need minor repairs, so purchase in sufficient time to make the tailoring needed.
Winter Colors
The perfect option for a winter wedding is white, however, with small additions of silver or blue you can add a bit of color and sparkle to the overall color scheme. The bridesmaids' dresses would be stunning in a silvery blue, and bouquets made from white roses with silver ribbon look elegant and romantic, providing a wintery effect.
Vintage Invitations
Whether you order the invitations or make them yourself, they should have a classic vintage look. Paper that is cream-colored with ragged edges and antique printing looks gorgeous and will give your guests a hint about the theme of the wedding. Images such as a horse-drawn sleigh in the snow look great on a vintage wedding invitation.

Winter Decorations
Small items such as glitter, snowflakes and silver-painted twigs go a long way when decorating for a winter vintage theme. Decorate the reception tables with white table linens, blue napkins and glittery snowflakes scattered on top of the table covers. Centerpieces made from white candles, silver-painted branches and white flowers provide an elegant, romantic and vintage effect. Provide mood lighting with small white lights throughout the venue, or have several white candles in various sizes on all of the tables, in candelabras or in decorative votive cups. Arrange to have ice sculptures on the food table and/or the cake table to add a romantic ambiance to the decorations.
Arrival and Departure
For a fantastic addition to the theme, arrive at the wedding in a horse-drawn carriage and leave as a couple in the same way. Should you prefer to be transported in a covered vehicle, ask to borrow a vintage car from family or friends. If you do not know anyone with a classic car, search online for local car rental companies that specialize in vintage vehicles. When renting the vehicle, many companies will also provide a driver for the day.

If I were to choose an era to fall in love with, it would be the 1930′s. Elegant and feminine, the details and lines of this iconic era are a perfect fit for a modern-vintage wedding. Antique lace and deco brackets brushed with a patina filled my board as I designed this vintage wedding invitation set for One Heart Weddings (also see our vintage wedding invitations at Elli). Here is were I found my inspiration:

1) Tulle Era Dress from BHLDN
2) Antique Art Deco Ring from Antique Sparkle on Etsy
3) Wedding Bouquet seen on A Lady’s Finding on Tumblr
4) Vintage Bow Tie from Raleigh Vintage on Etsy
